Retzer Nature Center engagement session in autumn

Time to feature another adorable engaged couple!! This time it’s Heather and Chris! Their paths crossed with mine this winter at a bridal show and we instantly connected. I loved their laid back and humorous energy, so I knew their engagement session this fall would be a lot of fun!!

Chris and Heather went to neighboring high schools but didn’t actually meet until Heather went to college. They were surprised that they hadn’t met earlier than that since they both grew up in small towns close by each other. They shared their first date at Olive Garden and talked about life and became inseparable ever since.

They love to take road trips with and without specific destinations. Sometimes they just love to jump in the car and drive around the countryside. One day last September, they did make a specific drive up to Door Country. Chris took Heather to the iconic Anderson Dock and this is where he proposed to her!! They quickly began planning for their September 2021 and knew they wanted some fall engagement photos!

I knew the Retzer Nature Center would be the perfect backdrop for their engagement session! It’s been a favorite portrait location of mine this year. You can’t tell from these sunny photos, but we nearly got caught in a downpour!! It happened luckily between their outfit change and it just poured rain for about 10 minutes straight and then went back to sunny weather. That’s Wisconsin weather for you.

Chris and Heather were naturals during their session!! Their joyful spirits really made things fun and lighthearted. Heather got her makeup professionally done that afternoon and she looked stunning!! If you are getting your photos taken, you might as well do a trial of your makeup to see if you’d like it done the same way for the wedding day! We all agreed she looked fantastic and I just loved the way her eyes popped with the false eyelashes!

Less than a year to go until Chris and Heather’s big day at The Barn at Buechler Farms! I can’t wait!! Enjoy some of my favorites from their engagement session at Retzer Nature Center!!
