Relaxing Outdoor Wedding at Grant Park in South Milwaukee

On a beautiful fall day, Stacy and Trevor made it official and got married! They always envisioned a cozy outdoor wedding where friends and family could be laid back and enjoy each other’s company without the stuffiness of many wedding traditions and customs. Grant Park in South Milwaukee made the most sense for them. It’s a beautiful park near Lake Michigan, lots of wooded trails, and beautiful landscaping.

South Milwaukee also happens to be my hometown, and that’s how Stacy and I met, in middle/high school. We have many fond memories of those days, sharing many classes and projects together. I am honored she asked me to photograph one of the most important days in her life. Trevor came much later after high school, so I didn’t get to know him until their engagement session last fall. He’s a pretty cool guy and so perfect for Stacy!

An all-outdoor wedding can be stressful to plan because you never know exactly what the weather will be, but we got extremely lucky and not only was it sunny, but the temperature stayed in the 60-70s all day long. It was absolutely perfect. Stacy got ready at their house down the road from the park. They opted for a traditional first look at the ceremony, and Stacy made her grand entrance through the woods leading up to the pavilion. They shared personal vows, which I thought was so sweet because while listening to the vows I could tell how genuinely in love with each other they are.

After saying “I dos” they opted for a low-key reception, with yard games and a taco buffet, keeping things pretty casual. They did incorporate one open-air traditional first dance while the sun was setting. Beyond that, it was very low-key and many family members sitting around in cozy sweatshirts as the temperature dipped past sunset, laughing and playing yard games.
