Another beautiful wedding day is prepared on the blog, and boy am I excited to share about the wedding day of Katie and Ed!! I had THREE weddings last weekend (whoo-hoo!), and this wedding day was definitely the warmest day of the week! The heat index was definitely in the 100s. Katie and Ed handled the heat like champs though and thankfully we had the opportunity to go inside to an air conditioned church ceremony and indoor reception.
I’ve know Katie and her family for years, ever since I photographed Katie’s brother Jared’s (and Amber) wedding in 2014, which was almost seven years ago to the day! Wow!! I just calculated that timing in my head and couldn’t believe how many years it’s been! You can actually still find Jared and Amber’s wedding on the blog archives here. I actually just filmed Amber’s sister’s wedding last month and got to see her side of the family again, too. I’m so grateful and honored to be a part of these families lives for so many years.
Katie is a 3rd grade teacher, and Katie met Ed when his daughter Bella was one of her students. There was a field trip to a stake park that Ed signed up as a chaperone. While on the trip, Katie was so busy managing the field trip that she couldn’t get a bite to eat and started to get “hangry”. She remember this chaperone dad came up to her to try and talk to her and she totally brushed him off because she was so hungry! Katie didn’t think anything of it post-field trip, but Ed continued to keep Katie in his thoughts. Sometime after the field trip, he eventually tried to convey a message to his daughter Bella to share with Katie at school. Things did not go as planned and that message got misinterpreted. Needless to say, things were not off to a great start. Somehow Katie and Ed connected and eventually started to chat. After a rocky start, they eventually started dating and the rest is history.
Ed knows that Katie hates surprises, so this past Christmas Eve when it was just the two of them in their living room, he subtly gave her a gift, which was a slideshow of images of their relationship and a video message from his parents of how much Katie means to them. After that, then Ed proposed! Katie and Ed told Bella on Christmas morning and she was sooooo happy!!
On the morning of the wedding, Katie got ready in her family home in Muskego, surrounded by her best friends and family, including her sister-in-law Amber, who is a former Chaviano Creative bride! There were many laughs and tears shared as Katie got into her dress. We traveled to a local park so Katie and Ed could share a first look before we began portrait time. Like I mentioned before, it was a scorcher of a day. We were all very hot, but thankfully everyone was very fun and we had a blast!
The ceremony took place at their church and the most special thing happened! Katie’s 3rd grade students came to the wedding!! I had fun interacting with them while we waited for the ceremony to begin. They were so excited!! It’s not every day you see your teacher get married! Afterwards, we headed over to the Aud Mar Banquet Hall / Bass Bay Brewhouse for the reception. There was a crazy downpour that came out of nowhere, luckily we were all inside celebrating! After dinner and some heartfelt speeches the rain cleared up, and Katie, Ed, and I went outside for some evening portrait time on the dock! They shared their first dances between themselves and their parents (which was so sweet!) and the party was on!!
Katie and Ed, I hope you’re having a blast on your honeymoon and enjoy reliving your most special day!
