Colorful and Cozy Fall Engagement at Picnic Point in Madison
I had so much fun getting to know Alli and Greg while taking their engagement photos at Picnic Point! We met briefly earlier this year at a bridal show. After explaining to Alli the benefits of hiring a great wedding photographer, she is now reaping the rewards from finding a photographer who not only provides photos on the wedding day, but provides the couples with a total wedding experience!
The wedding experience begins long before the wedding day, it usually begins at the engagement session!! We picked a perfect fall afternoon to explore Picnic Point in Madison. This is a special place for Alli and Greg because it’s a place they visit often together. The trees were bursting with fall colors at the time we came!! It was absolutely perfect!
During our walk along the pathways, I got to know Alli and Greg a bit better! They met each other all the way back in middle school while on a school trip to Washington DC. They become friends, and in high school, Alli and Greg went to prom together as friends. By the time they got to college, Alli and Greg started talking more via Facebook and wrote letters to each other while he was deployed in Afghanistan. Greg asked Alli if he could take her on a date when he got back to the states 9 months later and she couldn’t say no. Greg planned the first date and took her to see Pretty Woman – The Musical in Chicago. A few weeks after that she finally let him start calling her his girlfriend.
Their entire dating life was spent with Greg on active duty in North Carolina and Alli chasing a degree at UW-Madison. They planned a weekend full of dates about once a month either in NC of WI up until they got engaged! Originally, Greg was going to propose to Alli at the peninsula outlook at Picnic Point at the end of January. He had all the plans in place, then to both of their surprise, Greg was called to duty on New Years Eve, he was gone before New Years Day morning, and his Picnic Point proposal plans were officially toast. After Greg’s return to the states, Alli flew down to North Carolina with Greg’s parents to welcome him home off the plane. All four of them (parents included), went on a beautiful hike in the Raven Rock State Park. Greg proposed on an outlook spot near the end of their hike overlooking a gorge.
Greg and Alli did an amazing job at their engagement session at Picnic Point! They felt a little nervous going into it, but told me at the end how much fun they had and how they didn’t need to be nervous at all! It got them even more excited for all the portraits they’re going to do on their wedding day next summer at Veterans Terrace! I can’t wait!!
