I never dreamed in million years that I’d be kicking off the 2020 wedding season in the middle of a global pandemic! We are ALL adjusting to a new normal, am I right!? Suddenly events are being canceled or postponed, the grocery store is running out of toilet paper, and schools and businesses have had their doors shut for months!
When Ryan, Deb, and I sat down initially this past winter to plan their spring wedding at Oak Creek Assembly of God, we had no idea that a wedding that was originally meant for 300 guests would have to be cut down to 10 guests so quickly!
Even in the middle of a global pandemic, Ryan and Deb’s decision never wavered about tying the knot this May. They knew that they’d have to be flexible, but they were determined to become husband and wife! Ultimately, they let God take control of the situation and it gave them so much peace with planning the last-minute details.
With a guest list of less than 10, which included their children and grandchildren, Deb and Ryan decided to host a Facebook Live ceremony for the other 300 guests who couldn’t be there in person at Oak Creek Assembly of God. The ceremony started with a beautiful video slideshow of Ryan and Deb’s life separately, that honored over 30 years they spent with their respective spouses before they passed away … but “God’s Not Done With You!” as the song goes and the slideshow faded into pictures of Ryan and Deb together as they begin their love story. You can read more about their love story in their engagement blog post HERE.
As the ceremony intro video ended and faded to black, Deb walked slowly down the aisle of an empty chapel to stand next to the man who was about to become her husband. With tear-filled eyes and beaming smiles, they exchanged vows, said “I Do”, and became husband and wife!
In the end, true love always wins. Everything indeed worked out for the best, and now this radiant couple can move into this exciting next chapter! Ryan and Deb, thank you for trusting me with telling your love story. I hope you enjoy some of my favorites from your wedding day! Live newlywed life to the fullest! You deserve it!!
