I had the pleasure of kicking off my return into wedding photography with my good friends, Aaron and Melanie. Originally when we met last August, they had made plans to have a destination wedding at a resort on the island of Puerto Rico. However, in the middle of September, a category 5 hurricane hit the island. Unsure if they should continue their original plan of getting married there in February, Aaron and Melanie made the hard decision to pull back on their destination wedding and relocate it to Wisconsin at Oak Creek Assembly of God, their home church. All things considered, they took the change in plans in stride, and it showed that they can roll with the punches with grace and a sense of humor.
I wanted to do something for them that would share their love story with family members living in Puerto Rico and around the country who could not attend their wedding day. So I created a love story video that could be shared with friends and family from around the world. They also shared it with attendees at their wedding reception right before they were announced in.
Below is the video of their love story that I filmed for them. I posted it on my Facebook page, and as I’m writing this, right now it has over 1,700 views!
Their Wisconsin winter wedding day started off with the ladies getting ready at the church. Melanie and her mom had many special bonding moments getting ready in the same room. I really loved the way Melanie’s hair and makeup turned out, she looked stunning! The bridesmaids got ready in a separate room, so we decided to do a “bridesmaids reveal” once Melanie was in her dress, that was very cute! Melanie bought her gown when she thought the wedding was happening on a beach in Puerto Rico, but I think it fit well in Wisconsin, the lace detailing on the dress and veil were exquisite.
After a hilarious session of the Wedding Shoe Game, the night ended with a streamer send off to bid the newly wedded couple farewell on the way to their honeymoon. I love the candid shot at the end. You can tell someone had fun teepeeing the inside of their car!
And that’s a wrap! I wish Aaron and Melanie all the best on the start of their new life together! I look forward to continuing my wedding season later this year with a few late summer and early fall weddings. If you or anyone you know is getting married and is interested in having me as their photographer in 2019, I’d love to know more about it through this form here.
